In cases where the intended mother's eggs are not viable, for whatever reason, donor eggs are needed for embryo creation and subsequent implantation into the uterus of the intended mother or gestational carrier. Donor eggs are also required for same sex male parents.

In our private egg donation program it is typically an anonymous process: the egg donor does not know precisely where her eggs will be going, and the intended parents are not given the identifying information of the egg donor. However, a great deal of information about the egg donor is made available to the recipients so intended parents may make the best possible choice. This includes medical and family history, educational background, and details about physical appearance. Often recent photos and sometimes baby photos form part of the donor profile.
I our program our egg donors are between 21 and 33 years old, and are thoroughly screened both psychologically and physically. She must be in excellent health and have no genetic predisposition to any diseases or hereditary medical conditions. The process involves a series of hormone injections during the course of one menstrual cycle to stimulate follicle growth, followed by a minor surgical procedure to retrieve the eggs. According to the American Society for Reproductive Medicine's Ethics Committee guidelines published in 2000 and restated in 2007, egg donor compensation exceeding $10,000 is inappropriate.

Chasing the Stork shares this view; under no circumstances are donors paid more than $10,000. Donors are compensated between $5,000 and $10,000 for the time and effort required for the process, not for their eggs. Chasing the Stork's program and administration fees include the costs for nationwide electronic and print donor marketing and outreach, non-medical screening (including background checks), trust account maintenance, scheduling and arranging appointments with medical, legal and other professionals, making travel arrangements, and enhanced support for both donors and recipients from our donor care and recipient care staff. The fees are non-refundable and due with the service agreement at the time of your match.

The fees listed above do not include medical tests and procedures, which vary and are paid directly to the medical facilities involved. In addition, IVF costs (including medical procedures, medication, and lab fees) can range from $15,000 to $30,000.
1) Can we view egg donor photos?
In some cases our egg donors allow us to show their photos only in the office, but not online. In this case, you can request to see their photos when you visit us for consultation or tests. In the very rare situation where the egg donor does not want to release her picture, your client care manager will describe the donor in great detail during your consultation. We take the matching process very seriously, and understand that many recipients want their donors to resemble them - and not just in hair and eye color. Soon we will be offering digial image facial recognition matching. Please use our contact form if you would like to be notified when this service is available.

2) How can we be sure that Chasing the Storks's egg donors will produce good results?
Just as there are no guarantees in life no company can guarentee perfect results. With that said, we take great precaution in selecting donors for our egg donor program and will go to great lengths to finding your ideal egg donor. Just take a look at the detailed questionnaire every donor must fill out. You can be assured that all our donors are healthy, with no known genetic problems in the family, have excellent ovarian reserve (as measured by FSH and AMH levels when available), do not use controlled substance, are personable and high achievers in various fields.

Bottom line: Our egg donors are not just young; they are thoroughly investigated and we do our best to make sure they have excellent ovarian reserve!

3) Will we be able to "know" the donor? Will the donor ever know who we are?
The answer to both questions is; maybe. Although nearly all of our egg donor situations are 100% anonymous there are on occasion known donors. In most cases neither donor nor recipient receives identifying information about the other. Chasing the Stork, however, does accommodate direct ("open") donations, when patients already have their known donors arranged or, when on rare occasions, one of our own donors expresses interest in meeting their recipient. Such donors are rare, and if one of our donors is interested in an "open" donation, we will advise recipients of such an option and work with both woman to setup a meeting.

4) How much information about a donor can I receive? Or the donor gets about me?
As much as we can give you without revealing or giving away any personal information that will identify them or you. From physical characteristics to educational level to personal interests and life's ambitions, we share a lot about our donors with our recipients so that they can feel sure that the donor is "the one."

5) What happens if the first egg donor cycle does not end in pregnancy?
About a third of the fresh donor cycles do not result in pregnancy. While this is unfortunate, a negative pregnancy test at the end of the first egg donor cycle does not mean that you have to start all over again. In our program, you receive all the eggs that your donor produces in a cycle. Since most of our young and healthy donors produce a good number of eggs, you, likely, will have a few frozen (cryopreserved) embryos left over. If the fresh embryo cycle does not result in pregnancy, you then, in the following month can try a frozen-thawed embryo transfer cycles. You will have to pay the IVF clinic for the procedure but you will not have to pay again for another egg donor cycle.

We've gone through this process ourselves.
